Al Sharpton has room to talk or for that matter such an influence.  Granted Mr Sharpton has support by the NAACP and Rev. Jessie Jackson.  </b></div> <div> <B>     NBC had five of it's top ten advertisers pull out because they carried the show and it's prior decision to suspend him for two weeks.  This is more in part to the call for a boycott by the Rev. Jessie Jackson, and his influence.  NBC claims it is because they have family values, again this is bunk.  The reality is that in the ever politically correct world you are limited in what you say, even though what was said can not  be condoned.   What bugs me is that the new moral majority led by Rev. Jessie Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton.  To begin with this, Rev. Al Sharpton is at best a hypocrite.  I was reminded by my better half about the details of Tyana Brawley incident many years ago.  (look it up and you see my point)  Tyana Brawley was an African American female claimed she was a victim of a racist attack, where she was covered in poo and written in poo was racial slurs.  Rev. Al Sharpton made headlines when he spoke out in her behalf.  It was later learned that she had made the story up to cover her teenage behavior.  In spite of this Rev. Sharpton continued to make this a bigger racial issue even though the whole thing was a hoax.   </b></div> <div> <B>     Last week Rev. Al Sharpton took great pains to exploit this further, by giving Don Imus the "Uncle Morty" (Morton Downey Jr.) treatment on his radio show.  Obviously Don Imus has been humbled and has faced the music, and he has tried to make amends.  I think he should be fined and suspended, and move on.  Lat the listeners decide his fate and move on.   Let Don Imus face who we insulted personally and move on.</b></div> <div> <B>     I find it amusing that this invisible moral majority who is led by so called men who use the surname of Rev. to seek vengeance.  I thought it was forgiveness, not vengeance.  Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are just using this as a cause to play the race card.  Granted what was said could be deemed racist in nature, but I think it was more sexist, but still was over the line.  Do we really need another cause for a racial riot? </b></div> <div> <B>     I find it more alarming that we make a great deal over this, when we should be looking at the bigger picture.  What do I mean?  People I have spoken to have expressed their concerns in what is preached over the radio in regards to music and lyrics, and what is being preached there.  Every day we hear songs demoralizing people, places and things.  This includes sexist and racist tones.  Why doesn't Al Sharpton fight for that?</b></div> <div> <B>     It is my opinion that Don Imus should be suspended and fined, and let the listeners decide weather to listen to him.  Granted what he said was a poor choice of slang words, but not anywhere near what other ex broadcasters had said.  Look at the career of Howard Cosel who lost his career when he said "look at the little monkey run".  That was blatant racism, or what Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder said in an interview regarding African Americans as being bred to perform better.  Unfortunately we live in a ever growing politically correct society in a corporate world.  The way I see it, if you don't like it, change the channel.  Unfortunately, for radio legend Don Imus, three words has cost him a career, we can all thank the the moral zealots who think they are the moral majority.  It's good to know that hyprocrites like Fat Al Sharpton, Jessie boycott Jackson can dictitate what you and I watch and listen to.  Thank god for satelite and podcasts.  </b></div> <bR> <div> <B>     Attached here is an article by Jason Whitlock (of the Kansas City Star) which I think best puts it....</b></div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>"Imus isn’t the real bad guy"</b></div> <div> <B>Instead of wasting time on irrelevant shock jock, black leaders need to be fighting a growing gangster culture.</b></div> <div> <A HREF="http://www.kansascity.com/182/story/66339.html" TARGET="_top" TITLE="http://www.kansascity.com/182/story/6633"><U><B><U>By JASON WHITLOCK - Columnist (Kansas City Star)</U></b></U></A></div> <bR> <div>     <FONT SIZE="2" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" ><B> Thank you, Don Imus. Had a broadcaster with credibility and a platform in the sports world uttered the words Imus did, I could understand a level of outrage.But an hourlong press conference over a man who has already apologized, already been suspended and is already insignificant is just plain intellectually dishonest. This is opportunism. This is a distraction.</b></div> <div> <B>     In the grand scheme, Don Imus is no threat to us in general and no threat to black women in particular. Now she is accused of stealing her own cheerleading uniform.</b></div> <div> <B>"I think that's shameful, I think it's tantamount to child abuse," says Terry Kindlon, King's attorney.</b></div> <div> <B>Kindlon, the 16-year-old's lawyer, says she lost it and offered to pay for a new one. The cost: $60.95. Authorities do not believe her, and instead, she was arrested, brought to town court, and charged with petty larceny and sent to jail.</b></div> <div> <B>"In all the years that I've been practicing law, this is without question, the most ridiculous and unwarranted criminal prosecution I've ever seen," Kindlon says.  "She obviously could care less what's going on," says Pat Leavenworth, of New Lebanon.</b></div> <div> <B>     We found Leavenworth outside the "Hitchinpost Cafe" in New Lebanon, where King works. She says she knew the teen in elementary school.</b></div> <div> <B>"How many times she refuse to do what she was asked to do?" Leavenworth says. "She just won't return it. She had to pay some kind of penalty."</b></div> <div> <B>In just the six months that Amber King has worked at the cafe, she has apparently made quite an impression. So much so, that the owner and a waitress each ponied up 500-dollars to bail her out of jail.</b></div> <div> <B>     Bail was posted at the Columbia County Sheriff's Department as Amber was wearing another uniform - the jail uniform. She was about to spend a night behind bars.</b></div> <div> <B>     "I'm quite sure there are bigger fish to fry than to lock up a young lady over a cheerleading outfit," says New Lebanon resident, Eric Hunt. "That doesn't even make sense to me."</b></div> <div> <B>     "I just think a fine would have been sufficient, and she must have parents that would be involved in this," New Lebanon resident, Ann Devaney says.</b></div> <div> <B>     "16-year-old kid, in jail, cheerleading uniform...it boggles the mind," says Kindlon.</b></div> <div> <B>The uniforms are actually owned by the cheerleading coach, Penny Black, and her husband, Bill Black - who is also the Director of Emergency Management for Columbia County.</b></div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>Charges against cheerleader dismissed</b></div> <div> <B>Updated: 4/6/2007 9:18 AM</b></div> <div> <B>By: Jola Szubielski:  Capitalnews9</b></div> <div> <B>   </b></div> <div> <B>     Attorney Terrence Kindlon said, "As far as I'm concerned, what happened to this lady is child abuse. It is completely inappropriate."</b></div> <div> <B>Kindlon was outraged that Amber King, 16, was arrested over a $60 uniform. So on the day of her court appearance, Kindlon filed for a motion to dismiss the charges. There was no opposition from the ADA or the judge.</b></div> <div> <B>Amber King said, "I'm just glad it's over."</b></div> <div> <B>     A 16-year-old girl is out of jail after being sent there for not returning her cheerleading uniform. The charges against Amber King have been dismissed, but as our Jola Szubielski tells us, that's not the end of the story.</b></div> <div> <B>     Amber's mother Roxann King said, "I'm grateful to Mr. DeBella for bailing her out so she only had to spend three hours in that horrible place, and we're never going to have to visit behind brick walls again."</b></div> <div> <B>     The cheerleading coach at New Lebanon High School Penny Black and her husband William own the uniforms and claimed King refused to return it at the end of the season. King claimed she lost it and even offered to pay for it. Still, King was arrested and charged with petty larceny.</b></div> <div> <B>Kindlon said, "Amber should never have been arrested. This was an abuse or misuse of the criminal justice system."</b></div> <div> <B>     King spent several hours in jail before her employer raised the $1,000 bail. </b></div> <div> <B>     Hitch and Post Cafe owner Mike DeBella said, "It was totally ridiculous, and I think there's a lot more important things going on out there that we should be worried about other than a $60 cheerleading uniform."</b></div> <div> <B>     Kindlon said he's considering taking further action against the coach and her husband for having King arrested and said he thinks there's a lot more to the story. </b></div> <div> <B>     Kindlon said, "Apparently, the deputy sheriff and Mr. Black, the complaintant, are fishing buddies, and there appears to be more behind the curtain than there should be."</b></div> <div> <B>     In the meantime, King has paid back the exact $60.95 and is looking forward to going back to being just a 16-year-old high schooler.</b></div> <bR> <div> <B>     A news story like this, would tend to make you question who was the child and who was the adult.  It more demonstrates the corruption within our so called system.  Granted the criminal charges were dropped in this case, but it makes you wonder.  This story would of never came to light if they had simply taken this case to small claims court, which normally would of been the course of action in light of the circumstances.  Also bear in mind that since the accused is a minor, hence the parents would of been accountable in small claims court.  It would be understandable if this case was something like shoplifting at the store, however this was not the case.</b></div> <div> <B>     There are of course, court cases where a minor should be charged and treated in this way, this case is not one of them.  This case, it appears was the brainchild of a man who had a fishing buddy who was an officer of the law.  This case more resembles a situation where getting even by means of using the law as a tool to harass.  It's a wonderful example of profiling and abuse of a system that was designed to be fair, honest, and to serve the public.  Instead, this is an example of mocking justice, a waste of taxpayer money, and the abuse of the badge.   (does this sound familiar?  remember that song "Alice's Restaurant")</b></div> <div> <B>     </b></div> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</b></div> <bR> <div> <B>April 1, 2007</b></div> <bR> <div> <B>Our taxes at work....</b></div> <bR> <div> <B>     For those who actually follow the news and in particular, the US senate passing a bill that most likely will be vetoed by president Bush.  This bill calling for the removal of troops in Iraq by 2008, as well as the funding of another 122 Billion dollars for this failing cause.  If you follow the news, the President claims he will veto the bill for the reason that he will not pass a bill that removes US troops from Iraq.   It's ironic that this war has lasted over four years, cost at least 3,000+ killed, not to mention how much it has cost the taxpayer.  All of this and for what?  So far, the military has yet to find those "weapons of mass destruction" (the reason we went there in the first place).  So far the US has only created what appears to be a civil war in Iraq.  (granted we did manage to get rid of Saddam).  So far we have managed to make several government contractors wealthy though.  All of this and for what?  If anything all we have done is create another Vietnam, all we need now is for Iran to come over and try to take over Iraq.  (remember these countries were at war in the 1980's, and now that we have eliminated Saddam, there is no opposition really unless you count us and the puppet government we installed)  We have though managed to waste an untold billions of dollars (in the 100's of billions), and guess who pays for this?</b></div> <div> <B>     Meanwhile, John Q Public who gets harassed by the IRS, has to work his ass off and then he has to pay out taxes, when he can barely make a living and has to decide between food or medicine, or has to freeze his ass off because he has to ration out fuel just to stay warm in the winter.  All of this and for what?  To pay for President Bush's modern day game of Risk?  Meanwhile, John Q Public has to figure out how his loved ones and family will survive. </b></div> <div> <B>     Wouldn't it be nice if John Q Public had the right to decide what his taxes were spent for?  Wouldn't it be nice if our hundreds of billions were being spent on things we need?  Wouldn't it be nice if our politicians would actually do something that would make sense?  Granted I am not damning the troops who have to follow orders, if anything I'd support them, it's the commander in chief who needs to realize that the United States is not the police officer of the world, and that the United Nations needs to resolve this or at the least have an equal share of the troops and resources.  (ever notice during the gulf war what other nations sent when compared to the US)</b></div> <div> <B>     If anything perhaps the congress and senate should just not propose bills that the president will veto and they can not override.  Perhaps the only way to get the message is to stop funding the war.  Maybe congress will figure out this when the next spending bill comes up.</b></div> <div> <B>     Meanwhile in Iraq, some soldier is attacked and or killed by a homemade bomb, or is attacked by another terrorist.  And for what? According to the article (link to article above), the argument by some, (according to the article) is that by accepting Mexican currency in the US, we are encouraging illegal immigration. Let's face it, this argument by some is bunk. Let us consider the following facts:</b></div> <div> <B>     1. There is no law prohibiting accepting foreign currency by a legal business in the US. </b></div> <div> <B>That is why we have banks! Granted a business would not accept foreign currency if the bank would not honor the exchange. As long as the taxes are paid, our government does not give a rats ass. Why should we give a hoot anyway if a business makes money by accepting foreign currency.</b></div> <div> <B>     2. Many public places offer instructions and or directions in Spanish. </b></div> <div> <B>This in itself should be more alarming than accepting currency. (ever go into a county building or do</b></div> <div> <B>your taxes?) Granted if we really wanted to discourage illegal immigration in the US, we would make the official language in English only. As far as a private business, again, this is a free country, and if they want to use another language as well, then so be it. (after all money talks, BS walks)</b></div> <div> <B>     3. There are places in the US that accept CDN (Canadian currency). </b></div> <div> <B>No one seems to give a hoot about this, so why is it a big deal there in regards to pesos.</b></div> <bR> <div> <B>     The truth of the matter is not illegal immigration, this debate by some is simply a racial issue. Obviously, many in that region feel they are threatened by illegal immigrants, yet these same people live in a society where they can make laws restricting the use of two languages in town hall. (President Bush was once Governor of the state of Texas, which borders Mexico) Perhaps it is a fear of change and culture that is creating this racism of sort. It's amusing that in our history, this is not the first time we have seen this. (just ask an Asian American, or an Irishman back 100 yrs ago) Ironically, America has been known as the melting pot, yet through our history, the native American Indians (who were here first) were the subject of invasion by the rest of us. </b></div> <div> <B>     On this note, I've concluded that perhaps our government should adopt better laws or maybe do a better job in enforcement. Perhaps our government should adopt a single language as being the official language to discourage illegal immigrants. Perhaps our government should restrict public services to legal residents to discourage the problem. (see peso below)</b></div> <div> <B>     One thing is for certain, this business is getting free publicity. My only gripe would be if they served pizza that tasted like tacos. (I've been told that places down there don't really have a real Italian pizza place) I like my tacos on a shell or burrito.
